Alternatively, you could change it to the Dragons or Roosters (broke the cap in 2002) or you could change it the the Panthers, Knights, Storm, Broncos, Warriors or Rabbitohs (who all broke the cap in 2003)

But why would you change to a team that broke it by a few thousands due to small accounting errors when you can change it to a team that broke it by millions by deliberate cheating?

Melbourne broke the cap by a fair amount and if they do it again, regardless of by how much, then they will lose competition points. And we broke it by 1 million over 4 years- Melbourne broke it by $150,000 over 1 year. We lost 37 competition points so they should've lost 22.2 competiton points...

No, because yours was an elaborate cheating plan - Melbourne's resulted from miscalculations in terms of the distribution of money to players with long contracts (eg a player with a $900,000 contract over 3 years could take 300,000 each year, or they could take 500,000 in the first year and 200,000 in each of the next two years etc). It only happened in ONE year, and it was a result of inaccurate records in terms of how much of their contracts each player wanted in that particular year.
The Bulldogs broke the cap every year for four seasons, and it was blatent cheating. Clear difference.

You don't "accidentally" spend an extra $150,000 in ONE year and not realise it. We blatantly cheated but it was academic in the end because we had to spend $300,000 under the cap for three years (so up until the end of this year) and we still managed to win the comp in 2004 anyway.

Yes you do. It was all to do with the miscalculation of the percentages of the contracts they were paying to those with long term contracts in that season.

In any case they've broken the cap by a significant margin (though less than the Dogs, admitedly) and have been warned with severe punishments being threatened for further breaches.

Indeed, but still, back to the original point. You suggested changing your team to one the Panthers, Knights, Storm, Broncos, Warriors or Rabbitohs. Why would you do that, when you could change your team to the Bulldogs and break the cap by a bigger margin over a longer period and do it deliberately?

The simplest answer would be because its impossible to do in the game. The game is based on 2005 anyway so changing your team to the Bulldogs would technically reduce your salary cap from $3.25 mil to $2.95 mil.
