I noticed there arent that many football threads around so I have decided to start an official one for the site. Hopefully this will get "Stickied". Use this thread to speak about football in any shape or form, domestic leagues overseas, Europe, South America, Asia, A-League. Speak about local competitions, post times of important matches that can be seen on tv or in your local areas and speak about anything football from products on sale to televised match times to transfer speculation and news. Of course, don't forget to mention Australia's World Cup Qualification. :p
Enjoy a thread about the best sport on Earth. Football.
Please do not post on this thread merely to abuse football or likewise, do not use this thread to begin arguments on why "Rugby is beta than socca bro" or vice versa. Respect all sports, respect the users and enjoy.

He's the main reason I follow them. He's a freak on the ball, also wouldn't want to get in the way of one of his shots.
To be perfectly honest before this gets into a full blown disccusion i'm not a huge fan of watching. Enjoy playing to much to watch other people do it :)

Haha, I don't expect Sunderland to win any games, but I still like them.
They have to be the most unlucky team in the Premier League, i like their attacking "feat no - one" attitude. I hope they don't get relegated and they don't deserve to. Apparently Macarthy wants Charisteas (EURO 2004) so i wouldn't mind seeing him in the Premier League.

Everton 1 vs 3 Liverpool. Once again Liverpool outclasses opposition. Moyes made the mistake of playing Beattie as a lone striker, he did well to get a goal though. Dadid Weir too old and tired for the EPL?

Sunderland don't have such a bad team, but kind of surprised they could manage 1 win :p

Gerrard is better than Ronaldinho in my opinion. He offers more than Ronaldinho in terms of leadership and defensive capabilities, not to mention the fact that he runs himself into the ground in every match he plays. Ronaldinho is in a team of superstars, a team that dominate. Gerrard has carried Liverpool for 3 or 4 years when they have been pretty ordinary and he singlehandedly won them the UEFA Champions League. Gerrard is more tenacious than Ronaldinho, although Ronladinho does have the clear advantage in ball skills.
Gerrard Qualities: Leadership, Defending, Stamina, Shooting, Dead ball, Passing
Ronaldinho Qualities: Dribbling, Shooting, Dead Ball, Stamina, Passing
Gerrard just edges out Ronaldinho because of his leadership and the impact he has on Liverpool.
Ok thats your opinion which is fine. But R (Ronaldinho) has way more ball control, flair and creativity. Charateristics of the Brazilian way of football. How do you think they have won 5 World Cups? Defensive football may be good in some areas but is boring to watch and can be bad for the defending team because if they don't hold up the ball the opposition can have many shots on goal. I woudn't say Liverpool aren't a team of superstars. For example:
Deco - Hamann (One of the most underated players ever, single handedly changed the outcome of the Champions league match vs AC Milan when he came on as a sub)
Puyol - Hyypia (A great header of the ball and physical stength coupled with some of the best tackles I've ever seen)
Etoo - Morientes (Both very good players, Morientes would be better than Etoo if he got some more playing time)
Gerrard is good, but not as good as R. Look,. In twenty to thirty year R will be remembered as a Legend such as Maradona, Zidane, Pele' you can count on it. Whereas Gerrard is maybe on the same level as Ronaldo or Lampard (great, but not exceptionally great).
Gerrard is unlucky aswell because he is in a terribly underacheiving national side which only wastes his skill.

I personally don't rate him as high as Gerrard or Lampard but thats just my opinion. As you said though World Player of the Year 2 years running then again Pele and Maridonna are known as two (Pele is the best) of all time.

Yeh, Ok, so I woudn't rate Ronaldinho among those two yet. Though he still has 7 + years to prove to us how good he really is. Anyway I respect your opinion, soccer is always there to have debate.

Possibly the worst goalkeeper in Europe behind John Filan. I think someone is an AC Milan fan :p
Yeah, the AC Milan of 2002. But not all of those players mentioned have played for AC in '02 if at all like Totti and Pele'. Now they have Dida as their Keeper. Dida is a really good keeper so I can't complain.
EDIT: I think Alessandro Nestra currently plays for AC but didn't in '02.

Yeh, no offense but some of the players there are pretty ordinary.
Coco: Can't even get a starting line-up with Inter Milan anymore and they aren't known for good defense. (can anyone say Favalli???)
Kaladze: Worn out his welcome and not seen as one of the worlds best defenders anymore. Used as a sub like Coco. Sometimes can't even make it to bench. (Well AC Milan DO have a good defense now)
Tommasi: A mediocre player for Roma, Isn't anything bright or outstanding, just there to fill in the gaps.
