There are a couple of people on the forums who have completed it. Its definitely challenging, but if you stick with it and chip away at the goals over time it will succumb to your mastery.

But seriously, you could try just picking up the Stars around the edge of the arena. That way you can leave your trail along the edge and you always have an escape route into the middle if you run into trouble.
