A NEW ZEALAND fan has been accused of stealing the coveted Anzac Cup won by the Australian Rugby League team in Brisbane overnight.

Three 25-year-old New Zealand men gatecrashed the Australian Rugby League team's after-match party, but complied when they were asked to leave, police said.

However, police allege they returned to the venue about 1.40am (AEST) today and one of the men grabbed the test trophy and ran away.

The two other men were detained at the venue.

The trophy was later located in the awning of a city building with the assistance of the man accused of stealing it, police said.

Charges will not be pressed against the men
