Any interest in this race? It produced a few good runners in the Melbourne Cup, but I don't know if the field is as good this year as it has been in past years.

The top weight Kerry O'Reilly looks to be as good of a chance as any, finishing just 3/4len benhind Legs in the Kelt. On A Juene is starting to find some form now that it's getting up to the longer distances. Vanquished finished third, less than two lengths behind Tawqeet in the Metrop. Professional Lady has a chance, after a close third in the Cranbourne Cup, and with Kerrin riding it. Dracs Back and Siamun both come from the Winning Edge which was won convincingly by Growl, and both had winning form leading into that race.

My Tips

Vanquished - Kerry O'Reilly - On A Juene - Professional Lady

I've had a look at the fields, and I must say I think Vanquished is well and truly the horse to beat at this stage.

For a bit of value however, I really like the look of Pentane. Don't know if it can get up but I think it will be right in the placings.

No matter what happens, I'll put putting a lazy $20 on the winning horse from this race to place in the Melbourne Cup.

The winner had it pretty easy sitting outside the leader the whole way, I think Vanquished is the one I will follow out of the race, taking nothing away from Mandela's easy victory.
