What are your thoughts on the situation we have in regards to music. As time passes along, more and more tunes are developed, but there must be an end. It is a lot tougher for artists to create music today, than it was 20 years ago, as is the case for the artists of that time. But with new music being released all the time, eventually it will be come too much of a hassle to create a new tune to prevent copyright infringments. I personally believe many of the great tunes have been used up long before, and now todays generation is using up the "left overs".
I personally enjoy listening to music from the 1990's and before. I dont think we will ever see bands like Beatles, Led Zeppelin or Elvis dominate in the music industry. We have came to an age where you will be lucky to get two good songs out of an artist. I am afraid that in tens years time, we will all be exposed to intrumentaless songs, or techno mixes. I dread to see it happen, but with the way music has changed in the past decade, the future looks dim.

There are only so many words and beats. They are running out. We're now seeing a lot of covers as a result.

I turn onto any radio station these days and all I hear is crap. Maybe once or twice a day I will hear a good song, and its usally an old song. Now all I enjoy from radio stations are the advertisements and talkshows. Thats really saying something about todays music.

well, that is what you call personal preference and opinion because i think music is great ( hip - hop :D ) but the bad thing is that R'n'B is becoming more and more about S*.E.*X.... i would like to see the old skool r'n'b come back

I know music is about personal preference and stuff, but I can see any bands of todays generation having such an influence on society as the greats from the past.

We will see 'new' bands ripping off the old ones and claiming it to be their own music. Wolfmother are a good example of this with their so called 'new' music which is nothing but a rip off of the greats such as Led Zeppelin, The Doors, The Who etc. I can't believe that people actually think that Wolfmother's music is good when it is nothing but a poor, pitiful attempt to rip off the greats.
This is the reason why I no longer like new mainstream music, I will take none mainstream metal/rock over any current band. The 60's 70's and 80's mainstream music was great though, too bad todays is just pathetic.

This is all based on personal preference and opinion.
IMO :p
I can't see it being the same as it once was, but who cares? You can still listen to 60s/70s/80s music if you want to (which is what I do :D)...

Come on! Your so shallow! Half of those bands are only classed as 'emo' because the band members have black hair. Emo isn't about appearance but the lyrics...

Don't blame me, blame Wikipedia.
But most if not all bands in that list are emo in my books. It's not just the Black Hair.. but the Black fringe hanging over half their face, whilst wearing more make-up than the average woman.

Half them bands that were mentioned are only though of as emo because of the "screaming". It's called Hardcore/Post-Hardcore which is different to emo. Alexisonfire is definately not emo. They are a great band. There are alot of bands that are bringing down todays music standards but alot of the stuff i listen to is great music. Most of the stuff i listen to is Metal, Rock, Punk or Hardcore. They are bands that aren't real popular because they aren't mainstream crap. They write good songs and produce good music. So as long as there are underground bands or not well known bands there will always be good music.
