It's between the killers and the strokes. I ran with the killers though. Two of my favourite bands!

The Strokes are the best hands down. I don't see the hype with the Killers.

The alkaline trio freakin rock.. and i dont think any1 actually knows wat emo actually is.. il post sumthing that i found on the net a few months ago
Ok..I've pretty much had it with all these kids thinking they're emo. It's pathetic. There is no such thing as emo anymore, you kids are all brainwashed by pop culture's defintion of it. You have no idea what it really is. The proper term for emo nowadays is "Scene".
What is scene you may ask? Well..scene in this case is mainly referred to through the youth culture. It's characteristics are distinguished through fashion and music, whereas..you get "Scene Kids" or "Scenesters".
It's basically the modern term word for "Fashioncore".
These are the trendy kids. The kids that get into something just because it's "cool". These kids are not really individual, they are trend followers. They are like a virus, attaching themselves to a pop icon and sucking it up.
They also tend to have very preppy personalities.
These are the kids that you think are emo. Have straight dark-colored hair, wear dark makeup, have tight clothes, act very emotional etc. They are all being categorized into a group which does not exist.
Real emo is emotionally-charged hardcore punk rock music. It was used to describe the music of the mid 1980's.
Whereas..what you see and think Emo is today.
The common stereotypes involved with this are: A person acting emotional like crying, wearing tight clothes, wearing black, having an infatuation with members of the same sex, having their hair infront of their face or over 1 eye, being anorexic, or wearing dark makeup.
Emo is not, and never was a lifestyle. It stands for.."Emotionally-driven hardcore punk rock music". So as you can see, no one can be emotionally-driven hardcore punk rock music, no one can be a genre of music, so therefore..you can't be Emo.
Emo.. true Emo is dead. It died in the late 80's, early 90's. Bands that remain today that people claim to be Emo like My Chemical Romance, The Used, Senses Fail, Hawthorne Heights, Dashboard Confessional etc aren't. They are basically their own little genre of rock/punk/scene music, however..I like those bands though.
Singing about death, love, girls and suicide doesn't make your band Emo. And wearing tight pants and makeup doesn't either.
Now..you can argue with me all you want, the fact is..Emo doesn't exist, and I've just given an overall summary explanation as to why. Now I am not a scene kid. I don't get into something just because it's cool. I'm my own person, I'm not a trend follower. I'm very open-minded so I listen to any and all types of music. I just happen to like the style.
So please... Enough with all these usernames you all have saying "XXxxXX I hEaRtEmO/EmOkIdSXXxxXX", putting your head down posing for camera shots and claiming you are emo and telling people you know what it sounds like, and what to wear to be it. cause chances are..you don't know a true thing about it. Every day someone uses the term Emo wrong.
But categories and stereotypes are a necessity nowadays I suppose.
People like to categorize something so they know what's what in life, they are just that short-attention spanned.
I just don't really like it. But I guess we all have to live with it.
