He has actually been playing very very well, but there are many players above him so far this season tbh.

Kurt Gidley has been playing well, but how can he be the number one stand off when he hasn't even been playing there?

He played there in attack in Round 2 - but he was still playing fullback in defence for a lot of it. He also spent various periods of rounds 1 and 2 at hooker.

No he doesn't actually. Ashley Graham has gunned it every week this season.

Falou, conversely, is lol-worthy. He's scored a try or two, but in general he's been quite poor IMO. Caught out of position often, looks poor in defence given his size, and just doesn't look quite ready for first grade in general IMO.

I can't believe Folau is being talked up as the new Meninga and being an Origin bolter, especially with the players Qld already has in the backline.

And apart from the fact that he stacked his backline with fullbacks...
Bowen would be a horrible winger. I'd rather have David Howell and that's saying something.
Actually, you should be disagreeing with this team twofold mate.
It's made up purely off the Dally M votes up to the 3rd round of competition.....
lol @ the whole backline being fullbacks though....

And you shut up about Gigdgley, he'll come good.

Dally M points mean squat all when selecting things like this. As I've said many times before, they are only useful in deciding who the best player of the season was/is, and even then I could see problems. Once I get this week's RLW, I'll post up the real side!

That will probably be the best way to gauge, the only problem is with consistency, players who have had a match off are no chance at being the best to date. I disagree that someone with 3 games at 7/10 has been a better player than one with 2 x 10/10.
Dally M is a pointless way to do it though, a winger could have been the 4th best player on the field over the 3 games and been dynamic, but will still be beaten by a bloke who's dropped 6,000,000 balls in his 2 games, but snuck a few tries in the other.
Took a while, I got a bite though. :)

That's where averages come into it. 10-10 is better than 7-7-7 because a player averages 10, compared to the 7 the other player averages. 7-7-7 is better than 10-10-0 though, because someone who has the worst game of all time every three matches is obviously a big liability to their side even if they can produce some gun performances.
But that is flawed also, given that if a bloke plays one game all year, and it just turns out to be a blinder, that makes him the best player.
Hmm, actually, that is correct anyway isn't it...... hmm.... (http://www.bulldogs.com.au/main.php?page=player&id=659&grade=nrl)

At the end of the season, I'll go by averages with a minimum requirement of matches, obviously. Like when you see the list of the best cricket averages... they all have a minimum requirement.
At this stage, there's too little games already played to worry about that minimums. And as you said, 10-10 is better than 7-7-7.
And as for Williams, you'll be happy to know he averages a whole 0 from one game played this year.
But Johns would have unfairly picked up a 0 from that match also

Johns got 3.
Irrelevant.
Still going to knock his average around.
