HURRICANE RUN, the best racehorse in the world according to official rankings, will miss the Breders' Cup Turf for which he was 2-1 favourite with Coral and William Hill.

Trainer Andre Fabre, whose charge was allotted a mark of 130 by the World Rankings (http://www.horseracingintfed.com/home.asp) Supervisory Committee following his storming victory in the Arc de Triomphe, revealed the news on Monday night.

"Hurricane Run coughed last Friday, and again over the weekend, and will miss his intended engagement in the Breeders' Cup Turf,"said Fabre within a statement issued by the colt's owners, Coolmore Stud.

However, it was confirmed that the three-year-old son of Montjeu will stay in training in 2006.

Although Fabre indicated that the Belmont Park feature on October 29 was an "intended engagement", he had yet to commit his star performer to the race which he won in 1990 with In The Wings.

Hurricane Run's absence will leave the way clear for Kieren Fallon to renew his fruitful association with the Aidan O'Brien-trained Powerscourt, whom he partnered to win the Arlington Million in August, and who finished third in last year's Breeders' Cup Turf.

Last night's revelation is also good news for connections of Bago, Shirocco - also trained by Fabre and expected to be supplemented for the Turf - and Motivator, who finished third, fourth and fifth behind Hurricane Run in the Arc.

Azamour, who was confirmed on course for the Turf by jockey Mick Kinane on Sunday, and Powerscourt are now likely to head the betting for the mile and a half event, ahead of the US-trained Shakespeare, and Bago and Motivator from the Racing Post Website (http://www.racingpost.co.uk/news/splash.sd)

Shame really whatever way you look at it.

DUBAWI, whose breeding and brilliance on the racecourse earned him a special place in the hearts of Sheikh Mohammed and Godolphin, has run his last race after injury triggered a premature end to the star miler's racing career.
Plans to run Dubawi in the Breeders' Cup Mile - for which he was quoted at just 3-1 by Coral - were yesterday torn to shreds when a training setback was deemed sufficiently serious to prompt the retirement of the most talented racehorse from the first and only crop of Godolphin's ill-fated superstar Dubai Millennium.
In a further blow to Godolphin - who also retired Doyen this week and said goodbye to Shamardal in July when the dual Classic hero was at the height of his powers - Dubawi sustained an injury to a hind ligament, in the process curtailing a glittering yet occasionally frustrating career.
"He was a great racehorse by a great stallion. We are going to miss him at Godolphin - he was the best threeyear-old we had," said trainer Saeed Bin Suroor of a colt who, at three, fulfilled the promise of an excellent juvenile campaign. Winner of a Goodwood maiden and the Group 3 Superlative Stakes on his first two starts, Dubawi ended his first season with a comprehensive three-length victory in the Group 1 National Stakes.
Having become Godolphin's first-choice 2,000 Guineas candidate following the decision to aim Shamardal towards the Kentucky Derby, he was sent off 11-8 favourite for the Classic, only for very fast ground to prove his undoing.
Fifth at Newmarket, Dubawi bounced back with a resounding two-length defeat of Oratorio in the Irish 2,000 Guineas and then ran creditably in the Derby, in which he finished third despite pre-race doubts about his stamina proving well founded.
Returned to a mile, Dubawi produced his best displaywhen he thumped Whipper, Valixir and Divine Proportions in the Prix Jacques le Marois.
The colt's last race proved to be the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes, in which he was controversially edged out by Starcraft, after which Frankie Dettori blamed his own tactics for the defeat.
"Dubawi achieved a lot during his career but there is plenty more he could have done," said Dettori.
"He gave me a fantastic ride in the Derby, proved how good he was by winning the P rix Jacques le Marois and was unlucky not to win the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes.
"He was a great horse to be around, very tough and very good. He had excellent cruising speed and a tremendous turn of foot."
Godolphin's No 2 jockey Kerrin McEvoy, who replaced the injured Dettori on Dubawi at Deauville and returns to Australia on Monday, added: "He was one of the best horses I've ridden and it's a shame his career has been cut short - he was a pleasure to be around."
Stud plans for Dubawi are expected to be announced shortly

The Breeders Cup Mile looks to be the weakest it has ever been.

No decent European challengers - Divine Proportions, Shamardal, Rakti or Dubawi won't be there. Whipper is flying the flag for France.

With the exception of possibly Leroidesanimaux the rest of the US horses would struggle to win a Group 3 in France.

all indications are that starcraft will be in the 2000m dirt classic as well!

Not a great achievement by Europe in my opinion.

Okay so four horses taking the first four places in the Turf is a result – but the Turf is always Europe’s race, but Ouija Board was a disappointment, okay she’s been injured but still.

The fact that no English horses turned out for the mile is poor.

Saint Liam always looked in control in the Classic.

I disagree, how can you be disappointed?

The Europeans completely dominated the Breeders Cup Turf with all four horses taking the first four places – you can’t ask for more than that, so where is the problem?

Ouija Board ran well in the Filly & Mare Turf after hardly running at all this year after injury and came home second, so no reason to be sad there?

...and Andre Fabre proved he is the best trainer in the World! :D

No your right that's nothing new, it's all to easy to cross the Atlantic and beat the Americans in their own backyard - we do it every year. Like I said the Turf was funny to watch, so much hype about the American horses, and they got destroyed by the European, imagine what we could beat them by in Europe? Imagine what Hurricane Run would have done to them if he were there?

Starcraft has travelled the world racing, so to finish seventh isn’t too bad at all – ran like a dog indeed, you funny little man, he still finished ahead of half your best dirt horses.

You one-eyed American’s crack me up. I’ve visited America before and the nonsense they print in your media is laughable, if it goes on outside America then the American’s don’t want to know, do they? But then what do you expect from a country that has a World Series but only open to Americans. I’ve tried to be patient with you, but you haven’t got a clue have you.

Sheikh loosing like he always does? Do you suffer from amnesia or something? You seem to have a selective memory.

And as Marcel say’s, Andre Fabre is the man….six Arcs, Breeders Cup Classic, Filly & Mare Turf and now the Turf, as well as Group 1 wins in England, Ireland, France, Canada and Hong Kong – unlike you pussycats us Europeans isn’t scared to travel to win the prizes.

So... Lost In The Fog is nothing more than a glorified claimer...LMAO... I knew it.. Just as I knew Artie Chiller... would come off the pace and beat the favorite....

I hit that trifecta... but I had Taste of Paradice to win.. Man.. if Gerret Gomez had a hoel to run through i would have hit the pick 3...

as usual.. the TURF was great for NON American horses... I thoguht Bago would have won.. but... oh well...

Is Star Craft still coming around the far turn??? $ 800,000 wasted....
