Default Luke Patten is the best fullback in the world.

OK, I an willing to admit that. Luke Patten is the Alpha and the Omega. He rivals other great fullbacks like Churchill and Scott Donald. His positioning under the high ball is great - he is willing to put his body on the line just to get the ball, as shown in this next picture.

Luke Patten for Prime Minister!

I admitted it though - he is the best. How much more do I have to praise him to satisfy your Bulldog needs?

Jesus, some of you Bulldogs fans (mainly you and Doggiesfan) are whingy little girls.

Even though this guy is being stupid, I think that Luke Patten is one of the best fullbacks in the world.

Well, although this thread was a bit of a joke, we can still salvage it into a serious discussion.

What does everyone seriously think of Patten? I think he has had a great year - probably his best year ever - but I still don't rate him. He's a solid first grade who offers a lot of experience and consistency to a side but I'd still rate most first choice fullbacks ahead of him. He's better than David Simmons and Clint Greenshields, but that's about it. I'd put him on par with Luke Burt.

I'd put him above Burt, but he is improving, and also above Peachey, who whilst still offering a lot in attack, is not as good as Patten IMO. The problem Patten has is that he is simply stuck in an era of high quality fullbacks.

My opinion on Patten..

The most under rated player in the game.. He is a great fullback, not the best, but a great fullback. He does his job well, always gets involved, always doing work and never getting raps. He might not be a flash superstar like Inglis or Slater, but he's a good classic fullback and consistantly one of our best players. We wouldn't have finished 2nd without him.

I think that Luke Patten is good enough to play in the number 1 for Australia, and even when Minichiello is available.

I haven't seen much of him this year, but to be souths most inspirational player and a playmaker isn't neccessarily what makes a good fullback. IMO if your fullback is needed as a playmaker, then your halves/hooker have a big problem. A fullback should instead be used as a support player or decoy runner. There are however some exceptions, such as Matt Bowen with the Cowboys, where he plays quite successfully as a playmaker, however I don't think Peachey has the quality of Bowen to warrant being used as a playmaker.

Is Luke Patten a good player?
Yes.

Is Luke Patten a great player?
Maybe.

Is Luke Patten the worlds best fullback?
No.

I could instantly name 5-10 better fullbacks:
Minnichello
Schifcofske
Wesser
Slater
Inglis
Hunt
Bowen
Hodgeson
Gidley
Stewart
...maybe Webb

Kurt has been playing really well since he switched from five-eighth to fullback due to a knee injury to David Seage.

A couple of games at fullback and K.Gidley is better than Patten? haha!

Truely shows how under rated Patten is. He is constantly one of our top 3 players yet is always getting placed last on the fullbacks list.. Pathetic.

Yeah I agree. and to whoever said that they thought I meant Matt Gidley I didnt I meant Kurt Gidley, he has played oky in the last couple of games but that is nothing compared to the fact that Patten has played well for the last two years at least.

We have never called him a the best fullback, even though he is a great player..

I don't know what game you where watching, but Patten was again one of our best.. He was dynamic in attack but a couple of one-on-one tackles didn't come off and that was his only fault, everything else was great form the Generel..
