Default Should the NRL bring in the gridiron goalpost concept?

There has been a recent argument over what the point of having the goal posts in the field of play is on the sunday, and whether they should be moved back out of the way behind the try line just as they have it in the american NFL.

Stupid idea.

Field-goals would go out, the angle of conversions would stuff up, and the posts provide an obstacle for fullbacks catching the ball as well as the attacking teams kicks.

Stupid idea.

I like them the way they are now. What should be really considered is the friggen corner posts. Too many different scenario's.

I broke my leg in our grand final one year when these two prop forwards picked me up and deliberately slammed me into the post.

yeah im happy with the way it is, i was just seeing what people would have to see about the idea of it.

it would be stupid to bring the concept in, it would up alot of aspects of the game. eg goal line defense, field goals, conversions, tradition etc.

Keep it as it is, as has already been mentioned it would totally change the way certain aspects of the game are played

Field goals and conversions wouldn't change in the slightest. The posts would be on the try- line still but the base would be on the dead ball line. No difference to angles or any of that.

Field Goals and Conversions definitely would change.

You have to kick an extra 10 metres if you want to get a field goal. You'd have to be pretty much on the 10 metre line if you want a good chance of getting a drop goal.

Conversions wouldnt change as much, but Penalty kicks mainly. Another thing you'd have to kick an extra 10 metres.

Very bad idea IMO.

well the 1st line is pretty much clear the goal posts would be like grid iron goal post where the base will be back on the dead ball line and the actual posts will comeing in over the goal line so theres no change in distance.

the 2nd line im just saying that I think we should leave the goal posts how they are and that the padding around the posts is there for a reason so theres no need to move the posts back

you got it now?

You don't have to kick an extra ten metres. The base of the goal posts will be on the dead ball line with the 'upper' part of the posts will be suspended above the try-line by connecting the upper and lower parts with a horizontal connection.

thats another reason y its a stupid idea it may work for nfl but nrl is a completly different game and i dont like these people who suggest we borrow from other sports that for the afl to do
really the onli thing that should be changed imo is the corner post rule i reckon it should be left there but if u touch it your not out

This is a question for all of those who are still at school.

Do your teachers still teach spelling and grammar or do you just learn around these subjects?.

Ohhhhhhhhh. I never knwe that the gridiron posts hang over the field.

I just took it as the goal posts being exactly the same, just on the dead ball line.
