Workaround solution for Custom Players/Teams not saving

I have customed teams several times and if i go into world cup and save my custom players/teams are gone!!!! what am i doin wrong???? does any one else have this problem???????????????????????????????????? it sucks to not be able to customise.

Workaround 1

1. Make customizations as desired
2. Save customizations to memory card A
3. Start whatever competition you want to play. This will load customizations from memory card A
4. Swap to memory card B
5. Save competition to memory card B
6. Swap to memory card A before returning to the main menu

Workaround 2

1. User loads game and creates custom teams.
2. User saves custom team information
3. User then shuts off console and inserts a second memory card
4. User makes a copy of the settings file to a second card as a backup.
5. User then reboots console with original card and plays the game.
6. Once the comp is over and if the user wants to re-use their custom teams, they will need to recopy the backup settings file from the second memory card back onto the first one.

awww, that sucks man. Surely they couldn't have released this game without checking such an obvious crucial aspect such as the one you just mentioned. maybe take it back and ask for another copy.

I have the same problem troypool! I tired creating me, I tried removing some players from the unsigned list so the players are not available in franchise mode by putting them in a custom team! I also tried a couple of other things but none of it worked! another thing is that most of the players are glitched out of positions and it was annoying on RL2. If you find a resolution please post it. I made Timana Tahu for parra cause they have a 24 man squad! and vossy calls him something totally different! you should check it out! other than that it's well worth the 50 i paid. also if you want the alternate strips you need to play as titans for example win a game with them and you will be able to unlock the strip!

one more thing! why can other teams buy superleague players and i cannot? other than from the unsigned list! Also you can buy players as soon as you play the game! and other teams can make offers to your players! at any time after the first match is played

this is because the nrl scrapped the anti tampering deadline, i can't remember when, it was when mason went to roosters mid season.

There is indeed an issue with custom saved data. We are investigating.

In the mean time, here are a couple of workarounds

Workaround 1

1. Make customizations as desired
2. Save customizations to memory card A
3. Start whatever competition you want to play. This will load customizations from memory card A

there's ALOT of faults with the game. one would tend to believe the whole 'world cup edition' thing was a last minute idea that was subsequently rushed in order to get it out as soon as possible. it's already forced me to turn the ps2 off before i burst a blood vessel putting up with its glaring faults and frustrating 'playability'.

I have had the exact same problem.
I have in fact customised all teams & created new players 3 times over thinking I am constantly doing something wrong.
This is extremely frustrating and simply doesnt make me want to play the game anymore until this is fixed.
I am also very disappointed in the making of some players - all the players from the original RL2 are exactly the same in appearance (Which is okay), but any new player that has been created for the WCE has simply been made and looks nothing like what they should.
Paul Aiton for example has white skin & a goatie (which he looks nothing like in real life!)
Another example is Dane Tilse - in the game he has a pony tail! Seriously whats the go?!
The list goes on, no effort has been put in to player detail. I mean you can't even get someones skin colour correct.
It is very disappointing. In RL2 I myself made better versions with the create a player tool.
I can live with the player detail and just re do them all myself, but when I can't even save any customs then whats the point?
If this is not fixed I will definitely be taking the game back.

Hasn't been released here yet and recent developments have kind of dampened what little enthusiasm I had for it. RL1 is still great though.

Thanks Mario! Although i doubt it would work! considering the fact that the settings, profile and franchise takes about 4 - 5000 kb in memory and i've got about a memory card full of Fifa, I'll give it a go though. I hope you guys do fix theses minor problems. The game is awesome and i can't get enough of it, Just like when i got RL2 and just kept bursting a bubble.

i dont care bout this stuff. im smart, ive still got my copy of rl2:normal edition.

ive got all my players, teams, etc. so im happy.

im buying the game for the titans, the stadiums, the jerseys, not the custom stuff.

I got the it today and borrowed the mates PS2. Is it me or the quality overall is lower on a PS2 Cause I love it on PC. looks so much cleaner and audio is crisper. I have never payed it on the PS2 before.

that is so sad man, RL1 was a terrible game, (ARL96 was better imo) it was considerably better on PC (higher frame rate gave you more of a chance to tackle the ruthless AI) but i cant honestly believe anyone could say with a straight face RL1 is better than RL2

to be honest i hated RL2 after playing it for the first 20mins (was so different to RL1) but once i was into it for the first hour or so i never looked at RL1 again

PS with a broken RL2WCE PS2 version now on the market i can only assume a fixed PC version would now have to sell better

we could come to some agreement where if you buy the PS2 version and send it into Sidhe you get a PC version sent back... or something I WANT IT ON PC DAM IT!!! LOL!!! comeon i cant be nice about this anymore Mario where the hell is the PC version

no more EA sports games on PC either, whats going on, dont they realise everyone has a PC these days (sure they might not all use it for gaming) but man read between the lines you dummies, LCD TV's come with a VGA plug! (that was more directed at EA)

I took the game back thinkin it was a dodgy disc but still ot wouldnt save. but the walkabout is better than nothin i just had to buy the memory card.

Wow! what a monumental error, is this place run by the International Rugby League Board?
Just fast track the PC version Mario, what's the point of having a game where customising is such a pain in the butt? It will get old real fast.
I've pre-ordered my copy before reading this, seriously thinking about cancelling that order now. I MUST BE ABLE TO CUSTOMISE.

do you mean swap the mem card into slot 2? or use a new mem card..

It works! this is what i did.
Save all your custom stuff to EG memory card two. Save your settings and Profile to Memory card two. Turn off the console, Enter player browser copy memory card two onto memory card one. Turn on game start playing competitions using memory card one. After playing competition save settings to memory card one to save your amount of time you played and to save unlocked features. Now here's the thing If you wish to "customize the game more" you need to load from memory card two at the settings menu and go to game customization and you will realise that the unlocked features are not available. So the only thing you can do is save the customized stuff and play or don't customize the game.

that would have to be the most pain in the back side way to do thave for custom settings...what a joke ....they have to come up with something better then that i think they should release a new disk with the bug taken out of it and anyone that has a receipt should get the disk for free

Same problem with the custom teams, before i new this game came out, i was updating teams to their current teams...in my spare time....but in the other RL2 game, theres no Gold Coast Titans, Samoa, or Hull KIngston Rovers..and by the time you create those teams theres no space left....RL2 World Cup Edition is a great game..except for that, and with the players....i just put the players who look nothibg alike (Dane Tilse, Paul Aiton, Sam Rapira, Israel Folau etc) in the no team list, and recreate them...it only takes about 10 minutes or so.
But please hurry up and try and solve this problem...maybe you can re-release the game...

I suggest making a game that's checked before it's released. I was going to buy it today, before I read this. Sorry Mario, I'm happy that they've released a new game, and I've supported it on these forums, but this is pretty p^ss poor. Whoever's at fault here should be searching the employment pages.

Works fine for me. I almost died when I heard people were having problems because I love to make an entire team out of myself and my mates. Thought i'd try anyway.

So I made myself in the game, saved him to the sea eagles.
Started a new franchise mode.
Played a couple games.
Saved.
Turned off.
Went to work.
Came back, turned it on and its all still there.

I don't know about World Cup or competition as I only play Franchise mode.
