Hey guys, anybody confirmed that RL3 will work on a softmodded wii? One person has said it does and Mario indicated that it probably wont. My brother-in-law is bugging the crap out of me to find out.

Well at least i got to smash the demo mode for awhile,
Dirty EB made me return the control and face plates to get my money back..
So if you pre ordered you paid 99 and if you buy it off of the shelf you pay 99.
I figured the extra were give aways really

And so it begins. People who are happy to pay money for a product, have to demand a refund because of the worst piracy prevention measure ever thought of, lol

I won't be buying the game now, as I have a modchip and couldn't be bothered buying, trying, and then having to waste my time returning it.

Man you can't be that cranky about it surely,
i'm disappointed but i can totally see where they're coming from,
there's no alot of honest people that would chip a console and continue to buy games,
and that's what they're preventing,
I'm just hoping they'll announce a PS3 or 360 version in the next couple of months and start the count down all over again.

Just putting this out there.. but you might want to make a sticky about the whole game being defective if you've modded your Nintendo. Save your fans the anguish as HES aren't the ones they'll be talking to.

It's a hugely funny one, and I can see the humour in it. Good joke, disabling the game cause someone has a mod chip installed. (Ignorant people that will say it's Illegal to Mod your Wii, Or, the majority of those with a Chip are pirates... get a clue). You are a pirate if you copy / burn / distribute or download games you did not buy... Unless you work for HES, where a mod chip means you ARE a pirate.

Garrrrhhhh... No biggy though... HES and Sidhe aren't getting our $100 just yet, we'll just have to wait another two years or so. Hopefully we'll see it on PC shortly after then next PC 360 or 720 or 1440 version is released.

Or i'll buy a PS3 if that rumour comes to be more than just dribble on a fat kids lip.

Keep up the good work Sidhe... hopefully i'll be able to get your next installment in the franchise.

You said you own the game, right? Lend him your game for a day. Failing that, tell him to take his Wii into EB, plug it in and ask them to slip the game in to see if it'll work.

This is Ridiculous. I spent 2 hours taking out the mod chip in my system. And it still comes up with the locks ! What am i to do now ?

In the coming days/weeks all the known chips will be known and solutions will be given to get legitimate Wii users and RL3 buyers games working....or not if one of those is unable to be switched off without still rendering your machine useless to play this game as seems the case with yours. For those people like yourself it's just tough luck.

All power to HES though, they knew the business risks and took their stance, now both them and us have to live with the consequences of our actions.

Formatted my System, THE GAME STILL WONT WORK, There is NO Chip in the Console or 'Softmod'. This is ridiculous. I cannot believe this, will updating to 4.2 system Menu help this ? Because Deadset, If you've Broken my system from playing a legit game i bought, You will be hearing about it. Mario, I assume the Details +61 2 9533 3055 Are correct details for calling them ?

I am guessing the devs where unable to distinguish between the retail, and a rip?
I'm not sure why they didn't jsut use the BCA call like new super mario brothers, and use that as a trigger to run the code that checks for the modchip
double protection that way.... and you get the best of both worlds. Otherwise you have just used 1, and its the wrong one because people can't buy your game!

It seems your code only works with older modchips that work with code injection, like wiikey, wiikey 2, wasabi, d2pro etc
Drivekey, D2ckey, Wode, etc would all work then i am guessing.

What state are you in?
I'm in Melbourne, and am very interested in have a look to see how someone with a legit copy of the game can get this running. I am not interested in piracy, dumping the game, etc, just trying to get the original game working with a mod

Was your d2pro on a solderless clip, or soldered on?
If it was soldered on and you ripped the wires off, i hope it wasnt when d2pro was 9 wires, because those wires connected to the IC are important, and if you rip them off your drive wont work anymore!
Do other games work?

If you interested mate, let me know as I have everything here to test it with.

The chip was a Wasabi DX - Im not a Tech head but its refered to as a plug and play chip.

Im based in Port Macquarie, I will be taking the Wii itself down to EB games tomorrow, Although i purchased RL3 from GAME. I find it Idiotic that a retail game, a game i was buying to support the company, has given me such grief. I really hope someone stands up to you blokes. Im only 17 so sure, your a small company but your still bigger then me, If i had the money, i would actually consider taking you to court, The Ethical issues that this raises to me personally, (with a Honest un-bias view) Mario are huge. I would more then happily take part in your experiment mate, but im too far away sorry.

Im starting to think it registers the disc as faulty etc, as i have not a single trace of a modification to this system. Hence my anger and frustration.

Oh, You know what REALLY Grinds my Gears. They Delayed the game to do this, Yeah, They sure did. After looking into it, there is not a chance in hell it would take so long. Mario, Stop giving these fans, who in a way support your lively hood half assed answers.

Yeah, the wasabi dx doesnt use code injection, it uses a flaw in the dvd drive, some audio signals. Its interesting that the wode works though, i was under the impression that they worked in the same way.

You can try and update your Wasabi to the latest firmware

http://www.wasabi.net.cn/wasabi_dx_upgrade_3_0.rar

extract, burn that to a dvd -r
and put it in your console and update

the chip doesn't do any perminate modifications to the wii
it does it all on the fly. I am not sure why the game is still "locked"

I will buy the game tomorrow, and see if i can get it working
If not, i will just return it
